Innovation and agility mindset of startups


Pagonxt is a startup from Santander Group, currently known as the world's leading provider of payment solutions for merchants, international businesses, SMEs and consumers. As a global company in constant growth, it is necessary to keep the team always in development, updating on new solutions and, mainly, aligning the objectives so that everyone walks together in the same direction. Seeking to meet the needs of its customers, Pagonxt aims to create new products frequently, in order to facilitate processes through a one-stop-shop for innovative payments and integrated solutions. With the mission to cut bureaucracy and payment complexity, Pagonxt's focus is on prioritizing the prosperity of its customers, in a safe environment for its teams, with imagination to observe, ask, listen and dream big, test fast and learn even faster.


Challenges

“Knowing where we want to go is important, but knowing how to start is also super important” is one of the mottos of Pagonxt's training specialist Marcelo Castro. With this goal in mind, he seeks to meet the different skills and training needs of Pagonxt's teams in the face of the following challenges:

  • Meeting the necessary skills for their teams; 
  • Align remote teams with different skills and experiences; 
  • Create new products quickly; 
  • Validate ideas without wasting resources. 

To be able to face all these obstacles, Marcelo searches for innovation and differentiated cases in the market, and found in Startup Mundi what he claims to be "the best in learning" for corporate teams:

“Startup Mundi represents a lot of that. It has the whole context of innovation, it has the experience part, which is something I look at a lot here too. So you will be inside a training session, inside a game, inside a challenge. You will always be stimulated and, at the same time, you will be learning” - says Castro.

With the aim of training employees on the innovation mindset, day-to-day startups, terminologies and product vision, the gamified training was carried out with representatives of all the teams from Pagonxt:

Impacts

The impacts of the application of the Startup Mundi Game Experience on PagoNxt's corporate training and team building are already being noticed in the day-to-day activities and in the more agile execution of the employees' new product creation processes, who use the game to validate real ideas:

“The first thing that I think had the most impact in general is getting to know, in fact, how startups work, the terminologies, that day-to-day that the experience can bring. And a second really cool point is the product vision, so we often manage to use this analogy in here too”, explains Marcelo.


Results

With two sessions of the Startup Mundi Game already held, Marcelo says that the results already influence from the first application of the methodology: “I already see people who managed to bring this mindset into Pago, in developing their day-to-day activities, even using the session for a real theme”.
